It's Time

Christmas seems like years ago, yet somehow I hardly remember winter. I’ve been ridiculously busy. I’ve hardly fished. My skis never went out. I only ice fished once. No more! Today I get back on track!

In about an hour I’ll be starting a five hour drive to Casper, Wyoming where I’ll meet up with my friend Sammy Vigneri. Backtrack the blog to May and you see me and Sammy fishing in Baja. Sammy’s one of my best friends and we’ve been doing cool fishing trips together for over 25 years. Once I move my stuff into Sammy’s truck we begin what may be our most exciting trip together ever, we are going fly fishing for marlin in the Galapagos.

We won’t arrive in the Galapagos until Thursday morning. We will drive from Casper to Denver tonight. Then tomorrow we fly to Miami then to Guayaquil, Ecuador. We get to Guayaquil at around midnight. Neither of us has ever been to Guayaquil so Wednesday we will spend the day there and check it out – something you should always do when the opportunity exists. Then first thing Thursday morning we take a puddle jumper to San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos Islands.

After we check into our hotel we go straight to the bluewater to try and catch a marlin on the fly. We’ll be fishing with the outfit Ecuagringo S.A. who are respected as the pioneers of Galapagos fishing. We have four days of fishing, two on then one off. On the off day I’m getting a look at one of those legendary tortoises the size of Volkswagens no matter what. Then it’s back to the water for the last two days.

As always when I’m abroad, internet access may be difficult to find. My guess is that I’ll have access in Guayaquil but likely not in the Galapagos Islands. So like in the past, I’ll keep the day by day accounts and photos coming in order as I can, even if I must finish posting when I’m home. Fish or no fish this will be a great adventure. And the adventures won’t stop again till perhaps next winter!

Did I mention its winter here again? All photos were taken this morning.

I'M OUTA HERE!

  2. Livin' the dream, Jeff. I don't know how you do it, but you certainly have figured out how to live right.

Please post lots of photos. Sounds epic.
